Sanju Pradhan ties up with Decathlon Sports India

Decathlon Sports India has partnered with Indian winger Sanju Pradhan to support their Football brand “Kipsta” in India.

The French Sports retail giant, who has been operating large format sports hypermarkets in India since 2009, has decided to enter the Indian football scene by getting on board the Pune City FC player to provide Usage Feedback and to be a Technical Partner to the brand. The company has been operating in India since 1998 but has only ventured into B2C business in 2009. Having expanded rapidly to 38 stores till date, the company felt it is the right time to get on board a face the Indian user base can connect with.

“As team members of Decathlon, the philosophy is to connect with young players so that they recognize our brand from a very young age and grow along with it. The focus is always on making sports accessible to more and more Indians and that is exactly where this tie up helps us. Mr. Sanju’s is a face that connects with the Indian youth and that is why he is on board to give us his feedback on the products so that we keep improving in terms of quality and technicality.”, says Mr. Shashwat Bansal, Commercial Manager of Kipsta at Decathlon Sports India.

The agreement is effective from July 2016 and will see Pradhan sport merchandise from Kipsta in all official games and sport related appearances.“Decathlon covers a wide range with regards to technicality from a beginner level product to a professional level product and that is why it is a one stop solution for all sport needs. Having visited a couple of stores, I had a fair idea about their ambition in India. When I came to know of this potential tie up, I was excited to be a part of making sports accessible to all.”, says the newly signed Pune City FC player.

He continues,"The products that Decathlon has to offer are something that is needed in a country like India where there are not many top quality sports products available at affordable prices. With the strategies they have in place, I am sure they will reach out to more and more Indians which will benefit the standard of sports in this country”. All in all, it definitely looks like a start to something new in the Indian football scene.
