18 Yard Box brings to all football fans, the latest happenings of the Beautiful Game.

Chelsea beat Monterrey 3-1 in semi final of the Club World Cup to set up clash against Corinthians on Sunday

Chelsea today comfortably beat Mexican Champions Monterrey in the semi final of the Club World Cup by  goals from Mata, Torres and an own goal by Monterrey defender Chavez.

With David Luiz starting in an unfamiliar role of central midfield Benitez surely got his tactics right by playing him as the deep lying play maker. His passing, vision and movement was exquisite till the time he was on the pitch, providing Chelsea with an option in this position with Romeu out injured for 6 months.

As far as the game in general was concerned, Chelsea did not allow Monterrey to play their natural game of short and crisp passing. Every ball was chased down diligently making sure no space was given to their midfield. Hazard was outstanding on the night, as his combination play with Hazard and Oscar returned back to how it was at the start of the season

Mata set the Blues on their way against Monterrey
The first goal was brilliantly created by Oscar's back heel to Cole, who picked out Mata just near the edge of the area and as always he coolly put it into the back of the net. Torres brilliantly held his run for the second goal to trap Hazard's cross but his rather off target shot was deflected into the goal.
The former Liverpool man was then again involved in the third as he crossed into the six yard box with the outside of his right boot, which Mata then directed towards the arriving Oscar. But the Brazilian's work was cut short by Chavez as he directed Mata's pass into his own net.

Now that Chelsea are on the brink of history by nearing another trophy in this calender year, the question is will it be enough to save their season ?

Yaya Toure wants to end career with Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has confirmed with the clubs website that he wants to retire at the club
He told the club's website: "I would love to end my career here.

"Nobody knows what the next step is in football and I believe that if you stop dreaming, you should stop playing football, but this is where I want to be.
"When I first arrived at City every time I went to sleep I would dream about us winning something and about us being the best team in whatever competition we take part in.
Yaya Toure wants to finish his career at City
"I believe I have to work harder all the time to improve and stay at the top level with this club.
"I will give my all every time I play and I will never forget how the fans have treated me here so nothing would give me greater pleasure than to finish my career as a Manchester City player."
With reports of his unrest doing the rounds just a few months back, this is one thing Mancini will be happy about.

Chelsea Fan who mocked Welbeck not to be charged

A Chelsea FC Fan who allegedly made a monkey gesture towards Danny Welbeck of Manchester United on the 30th of October in the Capitol One Cup clash will not be charged.

"The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) takes any allegation of racist chanting and/or behaviour very seriously and if any matters are brought to our attention they will of course be thoroughly investigated," a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

"The MPS routinely work very closely with football clubs and partner agencies to monitor behaviour to ensure public confidence and safety."

Although Chelsea FC had made assurances of such incidents not being allowed to happen from their fans, this has happened and shockingly no charges have been put against the 28 year old fan.
