Top 3 News of the Day

18 Yard Box has a looks at what is making news today.

After the midweek matches the usual dose of Premier League weekend is back. We look at what grabbed the headlines today.

The London clubs fall off the pace

What should I do?
Both Arsenal and Chelsea suffered defeats at the hands of Swansea City and West Ham United respectively. The two London clubs, who are normally the contenders for the top 4 place, have not looked themselves this season. It was clear enough by the results this weekend.

Chelsea visited West Ham United and faced a comfortable first half when they took the lead through a  well placed Juan Mata shot. However, Sam Allardyce's men turned it around in the second half when an equalizer through a Carlton Cole header set the tone for a stunning comeback. Two goals in the last three minutes for the Hammers were enough to hand them a win against a low on confidence Chelsea side a 3-1 defeat at Upton Park.

Arsenal welcomed Swansea City at Emirates in what was anticipated to be a mouth watering prospect. The game did not disappoint the viewers as both teams played quick one touch football but were unable to break each other till the 87th minute. Two goals from Michu undid a fabulous second half for Arsenal as the Gunners were left languishing in the 10th position on the table after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Welsh team.

Confederations Cup draws out!

The draws for the Confederations Cup
The draws for the Confederations Cup were announced earlier today. The tournament which will held in Brazil will have two groups, each having four teams.

The host nations will take on Italy, Mexico and Japan in a tough Group A while the World Champions Spain will battle it out against AFCON, Tahiti and Uruguay in a relative straight forward Group B.

The FIFA Presiedent Sepp Blatter was quick to praise the hosts by stating, "A lot has changed in this country since 1950, now that Brazil has developed not only in their culture but also in their economy.”

Jose believes in Punctuality

Late comers not allowed!

In what appeared to be a strict decision by Jose Mourinho, the Real Madrid starlets Kaka, Coentrao, Pepe, Arbeloa and Cristiano Ronaldo missed the team bus as they were late due to heavy traffic as reported by Goal.com.

Jose Mourinho, having asked his team to turn up at 20:45, ordered for the bus to move to its destination without his starmen. Luckily for Real the above mentioned names joined in later as they had to resort to Arbeloa's car for a ride. Real face a tough game at home against their fierce rivals Atletico Madrid and missing their heavyweights was what none of the Real fans would have wanted.
